FUSED CLASS SCHEDULE SPRING 2008 SURFACE TREATMENTS Maximum 10 Students TUITION $75.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $40.00 There are many materials to enhance the surface of our fused pieces. Class will include enamels, decals, mica, dicro slide and gold pen. Materials are included.
INTERMEDIATE FUSING KILN CASTING Maximum 12 Students TUITION $175.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $90.00 We will make two different kinds of casting. In one we will make a clay model, then cast the mold and fill it with frit. The other will be a block construction as if we were making a tabletop. Materials are included.
COMBING ON A SMALL SCALE Maximum 7 Students TUITION - $ 75.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $40.00 Lets explore combing techniques using the 8 Aim kilns. Design format will be 4 X 6 -- perfect for a soap dish. We will design, fabricate and comb individually to each form our own unique dish. Materials are included.
JAYNE PERSICO PRESENTS COLOUR DE VERRE Maximum 10 Students TUITION $450.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $225.00 In this in-depth two-day class learn how to mix colors, create color gradations, and develop your own glass palette. These skills will allow you to create your own line or reproducible pate-de-verre glass products by showing you not only the techniques to use but how to think differently about your design approaches. The emphasis here is on being able to develop a repeatable design as opposed to an accidental, one-of-a-kind piece. After each student creates their own set of color blended samples to be used for this and future projects, the class will learn different ways to charge or fill molds to achieve a controlled design. You will leave with a thorough understanding of this exciting, time-honored technique and how it can be applied to jewelry, art objects and other spectacular pieces. Several projects will be completed in class using included materials. Jayne is always working on something new so even if you have done colour de verre before, join us to learn and enjoy the next new experience with Jayne!
JAYNE PERSICOS KILN FORMED BRACELETS - Maximum 12 Students TUITION $225.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $125.00 This workshop will introduce you to manipulating glass bracelets on a stainless steel mold using specialized tools in an 8 Aim kiln. You will also learn simple wire-working techniques to create a curved glass watch band. At the end of class you will have two bracelets and one watchband. All materials and watch face are included. Additional watch faces, bracelet molds and tools will be available for purchase.
JAYNE PERSICOS CANE FOR KILN FORMED BRACELETS Maximum 12 Students TUITION $225.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $125.00 Traditionally cane is made in an open flame or furnace. In this class you will learn to create cane in a kiln using included materials. This process, which is designed for bracelets, can also be used in other forms of glass design. Jayne uses hands-on projects and demonstrations to instruct you in the tools used, setup, layering of glass, firing and how to twist and pull the cane. The class will add a totally new dimension to the already popular bracelet craze. NOTE: You will create two canes in class. Instruction for forming them into bracelets is not included. If you need forming instruction please see the bracelet class on Saturday, February 9.
FUSING WORKSHOP Maximum 8 Students TUITION $125.00 - NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $125.00 Use these three workshops to fine-tune your fusing skills. This is an opportunity to come and play with all the tools; i.e. belt sander, disc grinder, ring saw, plus you will have access to all nine of our kilns!
LINDA SCOTTIE SCOTT WITH TRIPLE PLAY! - Maximum 12 Students TUITION $225.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $125.00 Joining us for the first time, Linda brings with her lots of talent and exciting new techniques. Using the geometric sensibilities of quilt patterns as a starting point, you will be introduced to three exciting new glass approaches. The first is precision glass cutting using the Morton Portable Glass Shop to execute clean crisp geometric cuts without burrs or chips. Next you will learn how to create an endless variety of surface designs using rubber stamps and glass enamels. Third, you will discover a new approach to building three-layer fused pieces. All of the techniques combine to send you home with new skill and a fantastic glass quilt sample tile using included materials.

INTRODUCES DOUBLE SHELF FUSING TUITION $225.00 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $125.00 Have you ever noticed how thin some fused glass can be and wondered how the artist was able to fully fuse elements together and have the finished piece less than Ό thick? Come and experience how it is done. This is a great technique to use when you dont want thick, heavy pieces, be it large vessels or light-weight glass jewelry. This class will teach you the technique using millefiori, stringers, twists and other Effetre (formerly known as Moretti), murrinis, rods and sheet glass. You will fuse and slump a small bowl and make some jewelry pieces as you learn about firing schedules for a variety of special effects. This class also includes finishing techniques and findings for your jewelry creations. Materials are included.
ETCHING WITH IRIDIZED & DICHROIC GLASS Maximum 12 Students TUITION $ 95.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $50.00 Would you like to be able to make your own patterned dichroic and iridized glass? Come and learn how simple it is to use pre-cut stencils and etching cream to do just that. We will make several patterns and use them to design our own custom jewelry. Come and join the fun! Materials are included.
EXPLORING BAS RELIEF Maximum 12 Students TUITION $95.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $50.00 Lets explore techniques using varying thicknesses of fiber paper to create designs and then embellish them with color or additional texture. Project will be a plate format using included materials.
SHIRLEY WEBSTER
MAKING 3-DIMENSIONAL JEWELRY & MORE! TUITION $450.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $225.00 As always Shirley will push the envelope when using dichroic glass. This time we will be experimenting with more dimensional work. Shirley has been working with non-traditional methods of cold fusing components together to embellish the assets of dichroic glass. As always there will be lots of dichro, many new ideas and more fun that you can imagine! Come join us! Materials are included.
FUSING WITH IRIDIZED GLASS Maximum 12 Students TUITION $95.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $50.00 Lets explore the benefits and pitfalls in firing with iridized glass. You will experiment with several techniques to improve your usage of irids and a few new ideas on how to solve some of the problems. Materials are included.
WALL POCKETS Maximum 12 Students TUITION $95.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $50.00 The usage of fiber paper is a simple concept but not always an easy one to perfect. Lets make our own pockets and discover a few tricks for consistent success. Materials are included.
FUSED MOSAIC Maximum 12 Students Tuition $125.00 - Non-Refundable Deposit $75.00 Create a fused glass plate that has the look of mosaic glass without the grout! Base glass is included, students will need to supply System 96 fusible glass for the mosaic pattern. First class is approximately 3 hours, with the second class a maximum of 2 hours.
FLORAL FORMER Maximum 6 Students TUITION $125.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $75.00 You will create your own design that you will fuse in an 8 Aim mini kiln. While that is firing you will pour your own hydroperm floral former for use next week. In the second class we will drape our pieces and discuss firing schedules for the mini kiln. Class on the 24th will last approximately 1-1/2 hours.
FUSING CAMP Maximum 12 Students TUITION $165.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $95.00 Two weeks of fun, fusing pieces and then completing them using PMC. Finishing techniques will be taught so that you go home with finished projects. Glass materials and 25g. PMC3 included.
MELISSA BRANZELL PRESENTS PAINTING WITH FRIT Maximum 6 Students TUITION $450.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT $225.00 Melissa will instruct us in the frit painting techniques of Roger Thomas and Kathleen Sheard. She has taken extensive classes and now is sharing that information with us. Bring a large photograph of your favorite animal, flower or fish and we will re-create it in glass! During class we will create an 8 x 8 tile and a 9 X 12 tile. All materials are included. Tuesday night is a time to pick up your projects and to spend a few minutes critiquing and sharing them with your fellow students.
